Christmas Progress

So I've managed to make progress on some models and thought to share them. Also how i currently go around painting them. The method i use at the moment for the plates of the Armour is as followed.

Spray: Skull White
Wash: Reikland Fleshshade x2
Layer: Jokaero Orange

And generally come out, after a lot of effort a bit like this.

I know it's going to sound crazy but i really enjoy the painting of the layers involved the Armour, and although it does take a lot of effort and time to paint that many layers of watered down orange. It looks nice and to me looks pretty awesome.

So the joints are easy
Layer: Dawnstone
Wash: Nuln Oil

Trim is nice and simple as well.
Base: Mephistion Red
Wash: Reikland Fleshshade
Highlight: Mephistion Red

Eyes, well they are eyes, simple in theory however not really to paint, but i enjoy these weird parts.
Base: Kantor Blue
Layer: 50/50 Kantor Blue/White Scar
Layer 25/75 Kantor Blue/White Scar
Layer: White Scar

The Boltgun/Other weapons.
Base: Abbadon Black
Highlight: Dawnstone

(Metal Parts)
Layer: Ironbreaker
Wash: Nuln Oil
Highlight: Ironbreaker.

Now these sections are unlikely to change but the other sections such as Gold, Flames and Shin Guards probably will as the army progresses. But that just makes it that much more interesting.

Now this is the end of the first marine, and below shows the results of my hard work. I have a few other models but I will show them in the next post. At this point it has just gone 1am and I have work in the morning so I should probably get some well needed sleep. So here he is.

  2. your paint schemes looks very good but it seems to yellow-ish. I paint Fire hawks myself and I use colours to make their armour look more like ceramite.
[the following part describes the methods I use and do not aim in insulting your methods It is only some suggestions]
    Armour (orange parts)
basecoat with Chaos black followed by Mechrite Red then apply a mix 3:1 Vermin brown and Scab Red finaly highlight with Blazing orange and wash the model with either Gryphonne Sepia or Ogryn Flesh (depending on the tone you want to achieve)
    Armour (yellow parts)
basecoat with skull white and then apply Bubonic brown or golden yellow finaly wash with Gryphonne Sepia
    Metalic Parts (golden)
apply shining gold over a basecoat of snakebite leather and then highlight with burnised gold (you can then wash with badab black to give a nice shading)
    Metalic Parts (silver)
basecoat with bolgun metal and then highlight with Chainmail
    Optic Lences
either paint them black and highlight them with Codex grey and skull White OR paint them black and apply 'ard Coat varnish works either way
    Weapons
the non metalic part of the weapons are painted with a mix of 2:1 hawk tirquoize and chaos black.
Sorry for the long post thank you for your time and keep up the good work. :)
